Did you read the email from the Sony Marketing Chief on the Jobs script? He was really articulate and passionate, not at all what you expect when you hear all the complaints from filmmakers about how marketing ruins films. I'm not saying I think the marketing dept. should have too much of a say in creative, but it was surprising that he actually cared about the story, not just counting beans.

I like to think of myself as bi-coastal, but I gotta say there's something good deep down about adjusting the computer clock to Eastern time.

Sufficiently annoyed.

Hey ipad mini owners -- and those of smaller tablets -- are they too small for reading scripts?

Hmm, ENDER'S GAME felt more like watching a video game, which are more fun to play than watch.

Valid points. It didn't give a catharsis that matched up with the earlier set-ups that hinted at a potentially strong, physical, climax. This would allow an audience to examine Ender's approach played out in "real" battle against a traditional warrior's approach. So, in that light, I can see how it would be a letdown; and from that standpoint, the mind-link resolution with the Philip K. Dick. wounded "Wub" creature would feel sublime. I liked it as a guilty ple...

Well it started as a simple "clone all the stuff from the old hard drive to the new hard drive," but, like any story, it led to a second act of rising complications, culminating in a dark fit of defeat, which led to a "fuck it all/storm the castle of full-on reinstall-everything-from-scratch, complete with a false ending of "everything appears to be okay," subsequently culminating in a final act of triumph, with ensuing inevitable joy and satisfaction.

Anyone attend the staged reading of “1969: A Space Odyssey?” Curious if it was true to the script that was uploaded, which I found to be a bit dense.

Glad to see Top of the Lake get some Emmy love.

Wow, anyone else find "Now You See Me" more improbable than not? Disappointing.

Gang, mind the CryptoLocker virus what with all of the file exchanges you're probably doing. It's nasty. Additional geeky details: http://windowssecrets.com/top-story/cryptolocker-a-particularly-pernicious-virus/

Struggling through first few episodes of Dexter season 7 -- any reason to keep watching? Totally disappointed thus far.

Breaking Bad. The "wow" just keeps on coming.

I mean, let's be real: Mad Men has nothing on Breaking Bad. It's overhyped. Writing's decent, but I don't find Don a persuasive character - hell, he bored me until the season 6 finale. That speech in the boardroom was when he finally clicked for me. With BB and MM ending, AMC's only really got Walking Dead and Hell on Wheels...and Walking Dead really needs to atone for the horror that was the Season 3 finale.

Hey SciFi fans, did you know Omni is returning at http://omnireboot.com/? Still "coming soon" but I think it's happening this month.

If you missed it, Vince Gilligan was on Charlie Rose Weds night. Nothing earth shattering but a nice interview nonetheless.

I asked him about the pilot of Breaking Bad and how people reacted to it given how much description he put in the action, which I've always read is a big no no when writing a script, and he essentially told me that people don't care what rules you break so long as what you write is good. So, go crazy people! Just write good stuff.

Analyzed MY FELLOW AMERICANS last night regarding a project I'm developing and, though the humor's a bit dated at times it's a tight, solid comedy.

I am ready for summer in the PacNW, but I have to admit I'm enjoying the crackling fire on this cool rainy night.

Wow anyone else getting a ton more email spam lately? Feels like someone cranked open the spigot...or maybe I'm just a magnet for crap.

I would like to recall the time I just spent watching the "Total Recall" remake.
-
Agreed. I thought that "dream" that movie started off with was some kind of joke "I won't leave you, I will find you" or whatever-the-fuck. I just remember it was cheesy as hell and thought this can't be for real. But it was... and it set the tone for how stupid the rest of the movie was going to be.

Enjoyed revisiting "Love, Actually." Gaining a deeper appreciation each time I experience it.

SMASH CUT TO.... a lame transition. WTF? A cut is a cut. Who started this "smash cut" nonsense? Curmudgeonly annoyed.

Fra-gee-lay.... That must be Italian!

Catching up on Dexter Season 6 and realized the Showtime promo dept included a major Dexter spoiler in their DVD promo montage. So, if anyone here knows any of those dumbasses who worked on that, be sure to thank fhem for me.
