      Cool. Thanks for posting that.

  2. A few episodes into Sense8 and compelled to watch more, though I can't explain why. Anyone else hooked? Payoff(s) worth the investment?

Especially since Orange/ Black just came out. Sense8 is now firmly on the backburner while I work my way through Orange.

I went through it. It didn't get going until halfway through and I wasn't a huge fan of the ending. With everything else out there, I don't think it's worth the time commitment. Unfortunately I have to say the same for the new season of OITNB too. I was not a fan of what happened in the newest season. At all.

@Frobisher: Precisely! Great sparse political commentary seamlessly woven into the story and classic McKee "dialogue as a weapon."

What's your favorite music to CRUSH scripts to?!!

  7. Anyone attend the staged reading of “1969: A Space Odyssey?” Curious if it was true to the script that was uploaded, which I found to be a bit dense.

Yes, I went. I believe it was the same one uploaded. Was pretty cool to see. Definitely think a script that's a little more "upbeat" is better suited for a live read though.

No substitute for hearing talented actors give words life, however unnerving for the writer.

  9. As if to taunt, the Waze app alerts me if I left the office now, at 2p, I'd be home in just 20 minutes, compared to the typical 90+ during rush hour.

  10. Big Wes fan but have yet to see Moonrise Kingdom and struggled with the opening pages of the screenplay but -- eventually -- got sucked in and couldn't put it down.

I may be in the minority, but I found the film to be slow and tedious and mostly a retread of characters that have appeared in his other films.

Hiddleston and Cumberbatch I think could both fit the next bond. Personally though, I've always been a fan of Tom Hardy, him and Daniel Craig in Layer Cake, loved that movie. That's why I was happy when they first announced Craig would be the next Bond, because I've been a fan of his and Hardy's for a long time. So, I'd like to see Hardy give it a go now. He'd jazz bond up a bit. Wouldn't mind seeing Kathryn Bigelow give directing Bond a stab either. Whoever direct...

Or perhaps it's time for Emily Blunt as Bond. She'd kick ass.

  12. Brain-fail on the film.. something like.."It must feel good to be right all the time." Paraphrasing respons: "No, not really" Was it BROADCAST NEWS? Anyway, welcome to my shit-ass bullshit fuck of a day.

I remember a plot point in season 5 of Mad Men was Don's daughter having her period. That's it, she just had her period.

Season 6 was better, but for a while there Mad Men just sat in neutral.

    3. dsjones

      dsjones

I mean, let's be real: Mad Men has nothing on Breaking Bad. It's overhyped. Writing's decent, but I don't find Don a persuasive character - hell, he bored me until the season 6 finale. That speech in the boardroom was when he finally clicked for me. With BB and MM ending, AMC's only really got Walking Dead and Hell on Wheels...and Walking Dead really needs to atone for the horror that was the Season 3 finale.

    4. benskelly2

      benskelly2

I love both BB and MM. I think they represent some of the best TV of the last 25 years. And I'm not an easy lay. I hate a lot of "hot" shows.

  14. Catching up on Dexter Season 6 and realized the Showtime promo dept included a major Dexter spoiler in their DVD promo montage. So, if anyone here knows any of those dumbasses who worked on that, be sure to thank fhem for me.

I watched seasons 1 -5 marathon style and I didn't catch it immediately either sly. Oh, and season 6 may be the worst of the bunch, but it gets better again in 7.

Season 6 sucked. Ed James O totally wasted. Terrible writing. Characters all over the place.

  15. CBC's Baroness von Sketch Show stealing my heart. A female "Kids in the Hall," but the laughs are feeling pretty universal to me. Anyone else?

  16. Developing a 5- to 6-minute short that I'll be filming in early June -- something I plan to enter into Sundance and others -- so I'm aiming for high production quality of course. But what are the expectations these days for shorts that get accepted into top festivals?

Those Sony leaked emails are addicting. I find it so interesting to read the inner workings of the upstairs, because at the end of the day, Eric Roth wrote Cleopatra and Aaron Sorkin wrote Jobs. Two writers at the top of food chain can't get their movies made, because of this upper level stuff.

    2. specwriter

      specwriter

I haven't read Cleopatra, but on the surface, Scott Rudin seems dead-on in calling it a bloated vanity project that is a bomb just waiting to happen and could ruin careers. At this age, with his resume, I could see how he would want no part of it. He has nothing to prove.

    3. specwriter

      specwriter

Did you read the email from the Sony Marketing Chief on the Jobs script? He was really articulate and passionate, not at all what you expect when you hear all the complaints from filmmakers about how marketing ruins films. I'm not saying I think the marketing dept. should have too much of a say in creative, but it was surprising that he actually cared about the story, not just counting beans.

But if your eyes don't experience fatigue due to the quality of the graphics, (like, mine do) then the current models should suffice. And I can read them on my 5s phone with an app called "Weekend Read". The crisp layout and the ability to alter the background help immensely.
