I'm kind of on the opposite track . . . 11 pages in 106 days.

      Good job, CB!!!

  2. I've seen casting sides on Showfax for a film called Viral from Casting guru Nancy Mayor. Would be for Dustin from here's Viral or is there another film by the same name coming out? Just curious.

  3. so i just got a review gushing about the script on every level. Still a double consider. Don't know what else can be done.

Don't know what else can be done? Make your script better. To do that, you'll need to do as others have already recommended - step back. Put the script down for a week or two or three. Doing changes based on one reviewers opinion will not get your script to the level it needs to be.

  4. The plus and minus regarding the MR. ROBOT pilot (now streaming on USA network.com) The plus: intelligent, well told, very well acted, smartest show on TV The minus: intelligent, the smartest show on TV. Just like Rubicon, too smart for the American public, and that's a damn shame.

  5. Finished the latest draft of my spec. It's out to a few management companies who enjoyed my first spec. Fingers crossed!

  6. Let's talk about what music you write to....

Sometimes I'll go with nature sounds if it fits the scene - ocean, rain storms, jungle ...

  7. Looking for a current list of Managers that accept unsolicited subs/queries? I searched and only found an old list from 2011, plus it didn't specify if they accept unsol. subs. Thanks guys!

You are much more likely to run up against the "no unsolicited material" response from agents and prodcos.

I haven't found one yet that has responded w/ a "we don't accept unsolicited submissions". Others experience may differ - but mine has been, if they like the query, they'll read the script.

  9. Anyone else mildly annoyed by the spec "racing into territories" hype? Producers bring specs into territories. That's just the way it works. A spec going into territories is not particularly newsworthy.

Yeah - maybe I'm a curmudgeon - but if newbs are gonna get a skewed view of the screenwriting world, I put it on them. Not that hard to figure out how things work.

Hyperbole or not - any news about a writer seems like good news to me.

  11. I know this is a dead topic...but the more I think about it, it must be said: Interstellar is a complete mess.

Elliott - I'm with you. But, I fully admit I watched it under circumstances that most probably didn't see it under. It has it's faults - but boy did it hit one hell of an emotional note for me - as well as an odd esoteric-laden soul tickle.

  12. So now Robin Hood is the latest competing project/spec craze? Again...

Maybe there will be a "what happens after the story ends" craze. Bodes well for my new spec - CINDERELLA: BIBBIDI-BOBBIDI-SHUT YOUR MOUTH I WANT A F*CKING DIVORCE!

  13. Best soundtracks for writing action adventure?

    1. Jaco

      Jaco

      GRAVITY soundtrack's pretty boss.

Not a soundtrack - but sure like putting on House of the Rising Sun by the Animals when trying to think of how to work on the build up of tension in a scene.

  14. Very excited! Looks like I have a literary agent for my kid lit book!

  15. Alright, I'm dying to head to a magnificent Indian buffet for lunch - can I get some suggestions on what will be my next fantastic read? There's nothing like grazing well, hunched over a dynamite script.

  16. Excited! My horror-thriller just made it to the top 10 at Austin and top 25 at Page in its category. Hope to see some of you in Austin.

  17. Free logline idea - THE SLIP-UP - A career criminal who fakes workers comp slip-and-fall injuries finds himself at the mercy of his new apartment complex neighbor, a 12-year-old kid who catches him faking and starts blackmailing him to keep quiet.

Opie - it'd have to be a real real real slow death. In the situation you give - the guy would be better off trying to set up one personal injury case - maybe by throwing himself in front of a rich guy's car or something. For anyone looking to get rich quick - the US legal system isn't the first place I'd go.

Happens all the time - best case I can remember working on was where this gal said she hurt her back at work and was unable to do anything - we got video of her in Alaska participating in a women's boxing tourney getting absolutely tuned up. Case dismissed.

  20. Question for the legal minded members: Why would Lauren Weisberger's (presumed) confidentiality agreement with Anna Wintour/Vogue not have prevented The Devil Wears Prada from being published? And if not, of what use was the agreement (or any other such executive/assistant/intern confidentiality agreement)?

  22. Officially out of LA until a script sells. I'm off to get married!

  23. There is a script floating around where a major traffic jam is caused by an alien attack. Anyone know the name?
