I just saw it and liked it also. I thought it had really tight pacing and great dialogue. Jason Bateman was excellent!

      The entire cast was excellent!!!!

  3. So thoughts about the Suicide Squad sizzle trailer that "leaked" yesterday? Honestly, I loved it! Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn *MIGHT* be an inspired casting choice that going to make her a star it seems. I can't wait to see it when it comes out next year!

Mr. Cakes: Justin Marks' version? That was good. I am curious to read Ayer's version since I'm sure he changed it...but that was a solid read

I'm not sure in Joker or Harley. I love them in the general comic world, but I'm sure Harley Quinn is really Harley Quinn. I not a fan of the way she looks, but not do I think she should have a the red and black outfit. The Arkham games got her look right but in different way. Joker, think Jared Leto will be a splendid Joker, but his look is just all wrong with the tattoos, etc, its as the J on his face is trying to tell us who he is. We know that. The bright hair as oppose to the gru...

  4. Crime Drama Screenplays: Doing early work on a crime drama idea (movie) and I'm looking for great crime drama screenplays. I don't care if they're recent or not. Also doing a "genre study" of sorts too. So, favorite crime drama screenplays and movies. Go! :)

  5. Will the semifinalists scripts from the Launchpad Contest be loaded to The File Exchange? The Winners? Just wondering...

I'm sure at some point. But I know the team has been busting their butts since announcing the top 25 to get all of these guys signed. I think half of them are so far, so probably once winners are announced, etc. there will be scripts. Not sure though.

Jacob's Latter was one of the first screenplays I ever read. I absolutely loved it. Robbins was great in the role but unfortunately I felt a little let down by the movie itself.

Granted, they simply didn't have the tech back in the late 80s/early 90s to pull off some of those effects well.

I know I'm in the minority, but I'd be curious to see what they did with a Jacob's Latter remake.

The Grudge? Really? It's not even a decade old yet. This is gettin damn ridiculous...

  9. Holland, Michigan and Bone Tomahawk: The writing is everything for both of these screenplays. I can't wait to see *BOTH* of these movies at the theater later this year/next year.

      Agreed, good work Red!

  14. Question: I'm looking for screenplays in the vein of Roman Polanski's Repulsion: relatively contained, psychological horror/thrillers with small casts. Also any movies you can suggest similar to Repulsion? Psycho and Black Swan came to mind though they aren't exactly like Repulsion they do exist in a similar plane (main character struggling to maintain their sense of sanity/losing their sanity, etc. Thanks!

For the love of Pete, Buddha, Jain, Confucious, Allah, God, Lee Daniels Tragedy Porn Precious, Sweet T Brown, Tara Reid's former acting career, the unbridled manliness of Joel Edgerton (damn, he's hawt! *swoon*), and sweet big booty baby Jeebus, please folks! I really do love the multiple requests for BONE TOMAHAWK, PADRE and the like, but you *DO* know that you can get these IN THE FILE EXCHANGE OF THE TRACKING BOARD. Really, you can. Just not from me. At the base of that wall, you'll find a rock that has no earthly business in a Maine hayfield. Piece of black, volcanic glass. There's something buried under it I want you to have. It's the scripts to Bone Tomahawk and Padre ...

    4. sankofa

      sankofa

Jiblings: HA! I think I should just turn this into a CLUE like mystery game..every clue you get, you get an in demand script like BONE TOMAHAWK or PADRE. Every clue you miss, you DIE. this would totally be a hot spec, right? contained with stakes...haaay! lol!

  19. Thank GOD my co-worker is leaving early for an appointment today cause i'm not trying to do JACK SHIT the rest of the time i'm at my current job. New job starts Monday morning at 8:30am! WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!! :)

      ... who are those guys?

I think if the movie has a serial killer that makes a suit of clothing out of human skin, it qualifies as horror. There are many horror movies that don't feature supernatural elements. Or ballet.

    3. sankofa

      sankofa

thanks you guys! Dan: I don't know why folk consider Silence of the Lambs horror..it has horror elements but it's essentially a very well down psychological thriller I would think...

Then again, critics and Bryan Fuller are calling the HANNIBAL tv show "elegant" horror..so who knows?

    4. Mike

      Mike

The Sentinel, Don't Look Back is really good, and terribly unsettling. The strangest ever is one you might have a hard time finding. A movie called The Shout starring Alan Bates. The 70's was the golden age of psych-thrillers.

  22. Happy Easter in advance, everyone! I hope you enjoy your holidays and get some writing in during the day tomorrow! :)

The group i was with said they liked it. It was a "shoulder shrug" like though. No one raved about it or even mentioned it over dinner/drinks afterwards.

Me? I didn't really like it at all. And I'm a huge Hughes fan. It was just kind of... boring. No real thrills.

    3. aweinstock81

      aweinstock81

Thought it was way too convoluted. The plot was way more complicated than it needed to be. Russell Crowe might as well have been twisting his evil mustache. Didn't buy his character at all.

    4. ThaVillain

      ThaVillain

The plot was definitely convoluted. And as I was thinking about it later with my Screenwriter Cap on, the more I realized all the holes in it. Very disappointed with this one.

  24. Who's still at work in the Midwest? I'm the only one in the firm until 5pm. And, I'm not doing SHIT! *turns up spotify app on Iphone and starts dancing to Wolf + Lamb. WHUUUT?!?!?! :)

yes...that makes sense. which is why i'm rewriting the beginning part of the outline to reflect that...so the person's comment was fine it just took me a while to wrap my head around it

thanks for this, the shadow knows. I'm doing a second pass on my outline tomorrow/this weekend and I will definitely rewrite with these comments in mind..thanks everyone!
