  1. Hypothetically, if one were hoping to move to LA next year...where can I find information on which place is best? I don't like to party, I like to drive myself everywhere, but would still like to be close enough to do meetings and the like. Any advice/favorite articles?

Oh I didn't mean to imply that Spec_Writer. I just lament the fact that many of these great writers just disappear and become irrelevant.

Sorry. No go on the script. It's been lined and annotated. It does have both voice over and a ouija board scene.

I want to see Luke and Leah have children that have a falling out, Starts a big war, one leans toward the dark side and finds a dark yoda to teach him, setting up a good versus evil thing. Either that or a Jar Jar Binks movie that is a lot like an old Eddie Murphy comedy.

Actually I hope to God they let the story people at Pixar crack the scripts.

  7. Looking for amazing TV pilots to read. I'm a fan of all the serial shows like Mad Men and The Wire. Any suggestions?

Me too Mysterian. I thought it was better than Homeland. Though I like Homeland, rubicon was more tense.

The Cheers pilot is brilliant. If you can't find the script the episodes are on Netflix. The BBC's recent Sherlock also top notch and it's out there. Warehouse 13 was another good one that effectively set the stage.

I hope there is a writers cut somewhere that has Morgan Freeman read the entire descriptive text between scenes. #OSCAR2014

Check out the June 10 & 17 issue of the New Yorker for a excerpt from the screenplay. It really reads well. Can also find it on the New Yorker website.

Yeah, I loved this script, despite a few logic issues and one slight contrivance toward the end.

Good script which suffers from a lack of realism. Non NFL fans won't care but who other than an NFL fan would pay to see this movie?

  12. hey people in LA - anyone know how I can get some help moving a couple things into my new place in silver lake? where's a good place to call for hired help? also, if anyone wants to volunteer to help me instead, i'll buy you a big sandwich and beer. i only have a bed and TV that need moving i think.

It's not organized. It's really just a bunch of guys looking for work. A friend did it recently and got 2 guys for 2 hours for $80. Name what you want to pay and pick people who don't creep you out.

Sorry, I disagree. The fugue state, the narrative train goin' choo choo choo, man...I gotta say, the gettin' up to see where it goes tomorrow and the reading where you went the day before. That whole, "If it comes too easy you ain't doin' it right" is bullshit. I'm not saying it's easy. I'm saying when it is, embrace it.

  15. How do you write a backwards script like Memento or Peppermint Candy? Do you write it in reverse order and then just reorder the scenes, or try and write it backwards to begin with?

Dan, I have a full story map of Memento, almost a complete scene list, in both the order of the film and chronological order, in our new ebook. Message me your email and I'll shoot you a gratis copy. We spent so much freakin' time on Memento that I'd like to see it benefit someone!
