  3. Best companies to pitch biopics?

You mean prod cos? Generally, they'd have to be in the business of making dramas, which is pretty rare. Then of course, people don't typically buy biopics off pitches, at least none that I'm too familiar with recently, feature-wise. Your best bet is to write it on spec.

  4. Can anyone recommend an amazing Western script of the last 2-3 years that has thus far gone unproduced? It's fine if it sold, but looking for something unproduced. Best of the best only. Thanks.

  6. While it's certainly not for everybody, I found myself absolutely blown away by Blue is the Warmest Color. The storytelling and dialogue felt raw and unfiltered and the actresses were both great. Highly recommend.

  9. Holland, Michigan and Bone Tomahawk: The writing is everything for both of these screenplays. I can't wait to see *BOTH* of these movies at the theater later this year/next year.

  15. What's the deal with OWAs? Can someone explain?

    1. ddollar

      ddollar

From my experience, you do get knocked around a bit at first when pitching for OWAs. Until you are produced or sold and already established, you basically are doing a lot of work for free and probably getting your best ideas copped with no chance of actually getting the job unless you are just phenomenal.

But it's good practice either way.

mike's right tho. from a writer's standpoint half the work is already done for you, and audiences will always love a good true story.

  20. Anyone seen Philomena? It's the only Best Picture nominee I haven't seen yet. Worth the price of admission?
