  3. Sorkin's description of the structure for his Steve Jobs script sounds interesting.

There's so many great moments from the Steve Jobs biography that will be missed. Jobs' birth father owned a restaurant that Jobs would eat at on occasion, and yet neither man knew who the other was. Bill Gates visiting Jobs on his death bed, both men playing nice and then slagging each other off afterward...Jobs' denial of his horrid body odor, etc. Oh well, hopefully Sorkin has stumbled on something brilliant and it's not just an ego showcase of his theatrical dialogue.

  5. I'm curious. Do Agents and Managers truly despise a writer who sends an unsolicited logline query, or do they just funnel it to their trash w/out a second thought?

Because most likely unsolicited material comes from random nut jobs and when said random nut job decides he wants to attach CAA to his lawsuit over "the fact" he came up with the concept of 2 guys in a plane first, so TOP GUN owes him $, if the assistant read it and had to testify saying so, it could potentially leave the agency liable. All the material they get is from their network of people who hopefully aren't nut jobs. Even when you subm...

submit to say a CAA they make you sign a 5 page release absolving them from any liability.

Er, I should have known. That makes sense. I haven't heard much about that dumbass who thought the best way to advance his screenwriting career was to sue everyone in Hollywood for discriminating against him. Wonder how his career is going...

  6. I need to accept the fact that no matter how many times a new Van Helsing project is announced, Anthony Hopkins will not be reprising his role.

Hopkins is still alive, hence my disappointment with his exclusion. Should Cushing find a way to rise from the dead, I would hope for his reprisal as well.

  7. Reading all these casting updates/rumors for "Out of the Furnace" and all I can think is, 'Is that really a better title than "Low Dweller"?

Dan -- it's not a rewrite... It's literally an entirely different script. New locale, new names, new story... The very basic plot of brother looking for revenge is there. But that doesn't even kick in until midpoint. WHY they didn't just have Cooper write an "original" instead of paying for all the attachments to Low Dweller makes zero sense.
