  1. Feeling very cynical today. Working for a major was a childhood dream but tbh I can't stand the job :) Time to find something else to do.

When I was younger, my dad would say stop watching tv and read a book. I told him no. Now I like books > tv. Growing older is weird.

Yeah but has your dad been watching The Night Of?

I'm not even sure my dad knows what HBO is.

  2. Saw Jurassic World then went home to rewatch Jurassic Park... JW almost ruined my childhood nostalgia with its conservative ideology

Were the characters really that great in the first one either?

Comparatively they are better in the original - more developed at least. Actors with more experience helped the original too.

Agreed, I was really annoyed that the movie is nothing more than pushing an anti-gay-marriage agenda by dinosaurical allegory.

  3. I never used to be attracted to Kevin Bacon until recently... his character in The Following rules.

And always figure on the FBI agents doing the stupidest thing imaginable so the bad guys get the upper hand

I loved season one but we've all got different expectations from genres. I'm aware I may be in the minority on this show :)

  4. One step closer to a permanent offer at the day job... one more hurdle left :)

As a long-time freelancer there's a lot to be said for stability and regular income. Good luck.

TY, been on a rolling temp contract for some time but senior management are pushing the board for permanency in January (last hurdle). Stability would be lovely.

My first job was typing the scripts for General Hospital into the TelePrompTer it was fun the show was so stupid but I was a very fast typist. This was before they had everything on a computer system we had to use a giant old fashioned typewriter more like a newspaper type-setting system it was enormous and very loud they put us in a small room two of us and we had to do the whole script in two hours. I hated it because the machine was so hard to use it printed the words in GIANT SIZE TYPE so...

the actors could read the words from wherever they were on the set and the words scrolled up through the prompter at whatever speed the actor was saying them, they had another person part of the camera crew who would be responsible for making sure the dialogue scrolled upward at the right speed.

The Google Group (Bulletin) is not in anyway tied to the forums here. Two different beasts with two different items.

On the Google Group (Bulletin) you can set it so you receive only one email a day or no emails at all. At the top right / my settings / membership and email settings. in there you should be able to set it how you please.

  7. Am I the only one who needs to print something off in order to read it properly?

I print out 90% of what I read. Can go from a warm bath to the Chinese buffet. Hmmm. Love among the TB. A case of paper. My HP laserjet. PRICELESS.

I find it much easier to read pdfs than final draft and switch between the two during edits

nope, it's the only way I can edit. Though I do print two pages of script to a page to save paper.

  8. More people *that I see IRL* need to watch Boyhood

  9. Why did "I, Frankenstein" get made? Even the casting is questionable

Yeah - I'm hyped too for Exodus. It's really good and I've been on a real Bible kick for the last year. So much terrific religious-osity out there these days...

      Hey Half,

Went to a presentation of the film with an Australian film group. The film exposed a lot of Australian actors as well as the versatility of the SFX companies that are out there. Half of the budget was paid for with Australian taxes and there were a few other good reasons I can't think of right now.

To be honest, in IMax 3d, I didn't hate it at all. It was actually really cool in the moment watching with the writer/director who is a great guy.

Thanks for the perspective, Charlie :) Didn't even know it was Aussie. The trailer oversold for me I think.

  10. Character breakdown done... one less prep task to do.
