  1. I need to know if anyone's seen a structural paradigm for a one hour TV drama? Like a Blake Snyder beat sheet but for TV. I can't find one, could use help. Thanks!

  2. does anyone know the time frame on the blood list? when it's voted on, when it's released, etc?

  3. Anyone here been a reader at a prodco or studio (recently or currently would be preferable)? I'd like to ask you a few questions about your experience.

  4. What do you think the budgetary cut off is for producing a script with unknown/relatively unknown actors? For instance 'Chronicle' was made for $12 million but didn't have any big names attached. At what point would most studios go "okay, we need an A-lister"?

  6. "The Conjuring" is a joke, right? It's gotta be a spoof of those house haunting movies. Gotta be!

spec writer, it's based on the Warrens, who were a married couple who investigated the paranormal. their book THE DEMONOLOGISTS is terrifying. I hear the movie's amazingly scary.

  8. Speaking of walking out, I've been trying to read the books ahead of the scripts concerning certain adaptations. So I'm halfway through Ender's Game (book), and I'm surprised to say I don't think I can finish.

you're right - writing them isn't illegal, but REQUIRING that violates the MBA.

that was a clusterfuck to begin with, as the competing writers had to write the first 10 pgs to win the job. which should be illegal (and probably is)

it's an opening they're seeking a writer to fill - usually a script that isn't working, or they need a new take on. you get a meeting on it if they like your stuff and you match the tone/genre. you develop a take, pitch it and see from there if they bite. if so, you sign a deal to write it.

  19. I think Skynet would've been more successful if they had cloned a hot chick, gave her AIDS, and then sent her back in time to sleep with John Conner. =)

  21. So...anyone hearing the grumblings on Thor 2 re: Alan Taylor and run time? I, personally, would enjoy a two hour thirty minute cut...

couldn't they predict this from the script length? or did he improvise a lot on set?

  22. TIMECOP REMAKE should be about someone going back in time to stop the making of the original film so the remake feels fresh.

  23. Why has the new Star Trek not beat the first one's opening weekend, even with 3D and Imax premiums and an 87% critics rating? It had the best trailer of the year. (No spoilers!)
