  1. What do you think the budgetary cut off is for producing a script with unknown/relatively unknown actors? For instance 'Chronicle' was made for $12 million but didn't have any big names attached. At what point would most studios go "okay, we need an A-lister"?

(Sorry, accidentally hit the comment button.) The same can not be said for other types of funds -dramas, in particular, are a much harder sell in foreign territories so names are generally required.

Chronicle -- Davis Entertainment set up the project. They have a 1st look deal and a long relationship with Fox so it's a different thing for them to ask for $12 mil. versus the director trying to set up the project at Fox.

The real question here is how much of the budget you have already versus how much money you need to ask for. If you have $1 million to go shoot a film with no-name actors, you can do that. However if you need a chunk of change, it's going to be a lot easier to ask for that if you have a star. Then, secondly, you have to think about what kind of distribution you want. Better distribution calls for more star power.

  2. They renamed 'All You Need is Kill' to "Edge of Tomorrow'? Why??

I think ThaVillain is probably right which only showcases how incredibly sensitive this country has become. You can't potentially run the risk of offending *anyone*.

Well, it was called "We Mortals All" for a while, too. I really hated that title. I don't know if this one is better or worse.

  3. Thank you Guillermo for showing us what giant robot fights look like without hyperactive editing and unnecessary close-ups

sadly, WHD is the better "die hard in the white house" film... Hell, Emmerich even lampshades Independence Day in the film.

  5. Here's a little short film I wrote, directed and played every part in. Hope you guys like!
