  1. The number of writers getting signed up with reps off the back of the TB pilot contest is truly amazing

It's about making the RIGHT investments and TB via coverage / contests has proven results. If you have the talent you will get noticed here vs countless other places that are nothing more than cash grabs selling a dream.

  2. What do you guys think of the Interstellar trailer? I love the little details like the not-so-pristine hypersleep chambers and the gravitational lensing around the wormhole. Also interesting seeing the small changes Nolan made to his brother's script like Murph being a girl instead of a boy.

Looks like another Inception, where half will think it's brilliant and the other an overwrought mess. Haven't read the script but trailer failed to hook me. What the F is this about? Space travel? All I really got from it was McConaughet’s in it. Was more bored than intrigued by it.

  7. DAVID VS. GOLIATH, storyline kept under wraps. Seriously? Is that an April Fools joke?

The little guy's name is Goliath and the giant's is David. That passes for a fresh take these days, don't it?

If you foliow the comics they REALLY stretched things out. Almost gave up on it but everyone is back together again and I'm looking forward to next season. I will give them a pass for 2nd half of this one. Every good show has some warts.

  11. Wow, Snowpiercer really blew me away. One of the best sci-fi movies I've seen in years.

Took itself too seriously for its premise and as a result is too long and falls off the tracks. I admired it and yet couldn't wait for it to end at the same time.

  12. Congrats to all writers who made Top 25 of the Launch Pad TV contest - especially PARADISE CITY! Well done, Sean.

  13. Hollywood is remaking The Grudge (2004) *AND* Jacob's Ladder? No. Just NO :( http://www.deadline.com/2014/03/horror-hit-the-grudge-going-reboot-route/

One big downside to Lego movie being a big hit is gonna be the string of toy/game movies that try to follow on it success, though I do have high hopes for Mouse Trap if ever gets made ;)

  17. As great as so much television is these days, and as addictively as I tune in to some of it, I tend not to re-watch it. Yet I do re-watch movies. I'm curious if others have similar tendencies. And thoughts on why that is (or isn't). Assuming this is the case for others, is it something as simple as production value? Or does it go deeper? Does it have to do with the story mechanics? Like, in order to go on this 2 hour journey, movies are super-compressed with idea and emotion, and...

... special category I can watch over and over again. I have made quite a few interesting discoveries about my taste in stories by looking at this small collection of films. One last thing I would add is that re-watching a season or more of a TV show is just too big of a time commitment, especially when new episodes are still airing or there is some other new show to start watching.

For TV, I only re-watch brainless comedies that don’t have season long arcs. Stuff like Always Sunny, Seinfeld, and Archer. I basically watch TV to see what happens next. Same deal with books. Movies are much shorter than a book or a TV series. They are one and done, so you kind of *have* to re-watch them to get your fix of the characters or whatever it is you love about a certain film. And out of the say1,000 movies I’ve seen I really enjoyed there are only about 100 of them fall into that s...

I couldn't make it through the 1st episode, though I recognize the quality of acting & direction. Maybe I just wasn't in the mood to watch 8 hours of something so dark.

  23. So, after all the hoopla over the Gawker leeking HATEFUL EIGHT, I'm surprised that there isn't a thread of reaction to the script. I just finished it and am composing my thoughts... Very QT (can he rip off himself?) but in the end it felt a little, well, "light." So, if Samuel L, Jackson plays Maj. Warren (way too easy, and a rather boring choice), Christoph Waltz plays Oswaldo (?),Tim Roth plays Bob (?), then Bruce Dern must be John Ruth, maybe???

I’m sort of glad this one is getting shelved. On the heals of Django, this smaller scale Western feels like a lesser work. I enjoyed the read but the ending is very matter of fact and ultimately the story is forgettable. IMO the lack of reaction to the script itself (not the leak) is a good indicator of people’s thoughts on this one.
