  1. I've posted The Cakes List for 2017. Please share the best of your year with me!

  2. Is it weird that all the other Hit List scripts haven't leaked out to us yet?

I figured it was a few days delay but... here we are and I don't know what's going on.

  3. 200 views of the CAKES LIST 2017 and no one has any picks of the year to offer up?!?

      I've just added my top 10 TV/movies :)

  4. Wow. I thoroughly enjoyed the Chinese film COCK AND BULL, full of Pulp Fiction-esque roundabouts and a Coen Brothers vibe. I would expect this to be on my CAKES LIST 2017.

  5. I had such high hopes for War On Everyone... Those hopes were quickly dashed...

      NO! really!? Sad!

  6. I've posted THE CAKES LIST 2016. Let the debate and suggestions commence!

  7. I have a GREAT movie pitch, but it might be too unbelievable: As the top law enforcement official in the United States, the U.S. attorney general, incredibly, met with the husband of a woman under investigation by the FBI in the back of an airplane idling on the tarmac. As a former president, the husband had considerable political clout. Days later the head of the FBI recommended no charges be brought against the woman, to jaw-dropping incredulity. In the aftermath, the head of the FBI finds...

lol this whole election has been stranger than all 4 seasons of house of cards put together.

How about a stone cold idiot becomes POTUS? Would anyone believe that?

  8. The new JACK REACHER flick is boring...

      Excellent debate.

Not to blame marketing, but the TV promos I saw didn't exactly scream "must see." The first Reacher didn't grab me but happy to see a big production support Pittsburgh's industry.

  9. Good Lord, I can't wait until the Black List comes out so I can read something interesting... It's dry as the Sahara out here...

      The 2016

Blood list scripts should be available soon, right?

I wouldn't be shocked if they're not right away... way this year has been going.

Think they come out around Halloween.

  10. Oh my goodness, the Mag 7 remake begs the question: Why? Why? Why? The script was color-by-numbers and seeing the film last night was no upgrade... "boring, Sidney, boooring..."

    1. sbbn

      sbbn

I don't have issue with remakes (as comments I've made elsewhere will attest) but that aside, the trailers just did nothing for me. Can't say I'm surprised to hear the movie turned out to be as exciting as the trailer.

  11. "In a few years time, all screenwriters will have to modify their scripts so that no woman is murdered in a film. From now own, they can only kill men. If they refuse to follow this rule, screenwriters will be accused of “promoting femicide” and end up in jail." Interesting read at https://panampost.com/vanesa-vallejo/2016/07/30/feminists-and-other-politically-correct-tyrants-are-taking-over-the-world/

So true. Sick of the endless circle jerk of articles from so called social justice warriors crying about how unfair it is for <insert group of people here> to get a movie made or a script sold.

      READ: IT'S HARD FOR EVERYONE.

  12. Hi everyone, I just wanted to say goodbye of sorts, perhaps not forever. In a few days, I won't be renewing my TB subscription. I want to say thanks again to all the terrific members here and the happy sharing. Perhaps in a few months, I'll join back in. My Kindle is going to be hungry, I know... If anyone wants my email address, drop me a message in the next few days.

  13. Okay, over 300 views on the 2015 Cakes List, and no one has antied up their own?

I confess I didn't read or watch enough this past year to be able to make even a comparable list.

      over 400 views now...

  14. Since TB Red cannot accept new private messages, who do I contact to get an okay for sharing a hot, possibly "hurt somebody's feelings" script?

  16. I'm surprised, and rather disappointed that the Black List overlapps SO many Hit List scripts...

Taking with the TB guys this afternoon, apparently singe the HL began, the BL overlap has increased from 30% to 52%, rising each year. Which is kind of hilarious. Especially considering everyone keeps saying the spec market is dying - but, well, here we go.

    3. Nic.Lishko

      Nic.Lishko

I think the reported spec sales make people think the market is dying. Gointothestory reports 55 spec sales this year. That's pretty low, but I imagine a lot go unreported?

I've been trying to find a script for Lenny for over a year-- he is a master.

    2. Ashish

      Ashish

Agreed. Best movie I've seen all year. What a wonderful adaptation.

  18. Wow. Bone Tomahawk was a great script and an even better film. I was worried as the trailer was lousy.

    1. ... who are those guys?

      ... who are those guys?

Wonderful. I was worried too. Terrible trailer. You've given me hope.

  19. Okay, I did it and I'm sorry... I should have known better. I should have used better judgement... But can I please have the hour back to my life for the time I spent reading the steaming pile of shite that is Bad Boys 3? Talk about "by the numbers"! It's like a word processor blended every dull, cliched cop-buddy script into a homogenized mush and then played Mad Libs, changing the villian's names to Albanian, etc, etc, etc... And to think Peter Craig & Davi...

Could be worse...you could have read the new Twilight book Stephanie Meyer "wrote."

  20. It looks like a number of folks are excited by the uploading of the Evel Knieval bio-pic. Cool, but let me tell ya, if you really want to read an EXCELLENT bio-pic with a lot of heart, check out Steve McQueen Cant Do As You Ask (Jesse Wigutow), it's in the File Exchange. Seriously. It's fantastic.

This place has been dead for new specs for over a year and I know several valued members who are looking unlikely to renew.

      Disappointing.

Yeah, I was just thinking it might not be worth it to renew my membership due to the lack of updates/ specs. Met some nice people here though.

  22. Remember that rush from seeing Pulp Fiction on opening night? The twists? The satisfaction? Wanna feel that way again? RUSH to see Damián Szifron's Wild Tales. Pure gratification

Hater -- the screen size is perfect for scripts. iPads are nice but it's like staring into a light bulb which can be an eye sore even when dimmed down not to mention makes going to sleep more difficult if you read at night.
