  1. Little rant -- apropos of nothing... but what's the deal with websites that just offer 'Movie Transcripts'

Right. I find searching for the script name and PDF is often helpful but I also feel there's a large number of click bait sites that are just optimized to have every movie and then PDF come up and theres no actual script there

I get that. My frustration is more your looking for a script and think you found out it only to finds its:

      Hello

      Hi

      And welcome

      Who's baby is this?

      etc

I mean who is looking for a transcript of an entire movie with no character or scene heading? What am I missing? Are these just for click bait?

  4. Hey hive mind. Trying to put together a list of films that fall into the Seven Samurai/Magnificent 7/Yojimbo mold of hired pros who come to the aid of regular people/villagers. I have the usual suspects (Bugs Life, 3 Amigos, Equalizer) but I'd love some more recommends. Thanks!

  12. TBS comedy execs are running laps around HBO these days. What happened?

    1. egerst

Agree. HBO is under the impression that the rest of the country is as fascinated by the struggles of creative professionals trying to make it NY/LA as creative profesionals in NY/LA are.

  13. Hey Hive Mind. I'm doing some research and I'm looking for your favorite movies where two or more lovable lugs go on the run from the mob, the government, other baddies after they either a) unknowingly fuck something up B) get embroiled in a plot unwittingly or c) steal from said bad guys or government... What are some of your favorite "on the run" movies? Thanks--MP

There's 2 Guns w/ Wahlberg and Denzel - although I wouldn't say its particularly good and then there's Safe House which I thought was okay (but wouldn't call them lovable) If I think of more Ill post

  16. How surprising is this: "Jackie" has only grossed $13M and is now in RedBox, so I assume that means they don't expect to see more. I know the script was heavily praised when it first went out. On Rotten Tomatoes, 89% Critic score, 64% Audience. I tend to side with the audience meter more often than not. Discuss.

They advertised it like a bio pic about a certain incident on her life but it really wasn't. It was a bit odder and darker and tried to get into her mentality after the assn so it played more like a tone poem feeling through those few days and less structured. If they went the more conventional route about how strong she was and moving on with her life prob more audiences would have come out, but really it was just a showcase for Portman's internal performance

3- I understand the need to keep reader private, But I would have at least like to know what kind of industry pros DLed it. Prod Co? Agent? etc. I'd also say that a few yrs ago this may have been a good place to get noticed but now theres 1000s of scripts just sitting there with no way to aggregate them to the people who should see them. Id say its good for fast cheap feedback and the coverage was decent. That's just my 5 cents.

2 - When I got my second set of feedback returned i found my score hadn't been improved and I had been called out for other points like the ending which the previous reader had actually singled out as saying worked. At this point I was pretty frustrated I kept the script on the sight for the next month got only 2 'industry dls' in that time so I decided to pull it. Overall I'd say the biggest weaknesss with the site is the overall lack of transparency. Which I understand. Of c...

I did it. Id say the exp wasn't particularly good. The best part was the feedback came fast like within a week. And my script got a 7 which I hear is slightly above avg. The reader had some tweaks particularly regarding character relationships but over all liked it and said 'with a few tweaks this will be a recommend with a strong premise any producer should be able to shop.' I made the tweaks and resubmitted hoping to bump up to an 8 which I guess is where stuff gets recommended

  23. Black List announced tomorrow. They've moved it up a day from the 14th - the day before Rogue One opens. I guess they figured no one would be interested in the new Star Wars movie. Will we be allowed to see the scripts? Already I've gotten... heat over distributing O2. How do they expect to generate... heat if they won't let people see the scripts?

The Star wars movie was going to be big but now that the alt-right has come out against I honestly don't think a single person is going to see it.

I think that's a great point. I actually left a writers group too because all we ended of doing was talking about different ways to 'land' an agent or mngr. I am of the mind that's so secondary all we really should be talking about is how we can improv as writers.
