I'm trying to read the book again now; it's for baby boomers, so it will be interesting to see what PTA does with it.

  4. Ray Harryhausen. Legend.

  5. Anyone else think the latest episode of Mad Men was lazy and clunky? Probably my least favorite of the entire series run, and I'm a huge fan.

In watching it again last night, it's not as bad as I thought, but I still think it has some major weaknesses, in comparison to the usual level of greatness for the show, of course. The direction also feels lazy, e.g., the blocking of shots and such.

Why would Bobby's comment to the janitor in the movie theater have moved Don to love him for the first time? That's not even close to being earned, imho.

  10. As a lover of "The Prestige," my immediate reaction is to hate Now You See Me.

  11. Ever heard this line before in regards to a handgun? "There's twelve in the clip and one in the throat." Raylan said it on Justified, and I've NEVER heard that "throat" reference before, wonder if it comes from Elmore Leonard or a wholly original term from the show writers?

  12. Hey guys. Could use your help rewiring my thought process. I have always had this fear that if I don't watch alot of TV and Movies all the time, that I will get stale in writing. Yet when I get busy that means I have to allow for writing and watching. I think in these instances I should focus more on the writing, but then I fear my writing will suffer? Thoughts? Wisdom?

  13. What a wonderful discovery I have made! One can watch The Hobbit Blu Ray in 3D and work on a laptop at the same time without taking off the glasses. Revelation!

  16. Any buzz on "Admission?"

  17. The Incredible Burt Wonderstone was pretty funny. I give it a B; not bad, considering the state of comedy films these days. But if it came out 10 years ago, would it have killed at the b.o.? It wanted to be Anchorman, but there just was no getting around that there's no urgency or relevance in the subject matter. Thoughts?

  18. Does the director of a series pilot get residuals on the show for the rest of its run? I assume that's the draw that attracts so many big-name directors to pilots.

  19. i was just hired to work at a convience store. any other writers with corporate jobs?

  20. Why does every article about Mixology describe the show as high concept? It's a comedy set in a bar. It's very low concept. Nothing wrong with that.
