  1. Any recs for scripts/films that have kick ass third act set pieces--preferably sci fi thriller or action. Thanks!

I just watched Skyfall again and was marvelling at how great the final act is. Plot, character and theme all come together in a fantastic set piece.

I'm scared to download it for fear of viruses. If you already have it, please run a security check on the filer and upload here? Thanks.

  2. on the culver city lot today! Justified office. Best day ever!

  3. Scorsese needs a new editor he trusts. WOLF OF WALL STREET suffers from its length and just about every scene runs too long, sapping the film (and audience) of its energy.

I think Hugo was the tipping point into senility for Scorsese. Haven't seen Wolf, hope I love it, but there is something to be said for filmmakers retiring like every other occupation.

  4. "LOVE" - short I wrote - just won Best Film at Southampton Film Week. Not the Oscars - but still nice cool that the film's out there making its way in the world.

  5. Did anyone else see Salinger?

I was surprised to see it on Netflix, if that is indeed the same doc, as it just came out in theaters recently, right? Anyway, it's all about the Morton Downey, Jr. docu, guys, that's the shizzle. :-0

  7. I really like Max's writing and his style but... man, that interview was something else. Wouldn't want any women I know near him.

Is he of the John Landis family? I went to college with one of John Landis' nephews and he was a nice guy.

  8. Up until about 90 minutes in, The Lone Ranger really isn't that terrible of a movie...and then it keeps going...and going...and going...

  9. As someone who regularly questions his sanity and abilities in this uncertain and often agonizing endeavor, I'd like to extend a big, blanket loving thanks to all you TBers who have shared your work here. With so many stories around us, just sheer numbers, it's easy to forget that every screenplay is in some ways evidence of a battle. Proof its author tangled with the abyss, and emerged to write another day. Presenting it to the world then takes a whole other kind of courage.

  10. Check out my blog on the site. Hasn't had many readers. I'm thinking about tracking what it's like to write your first screenplay!

  11. I bet Walt would've stayed in New Hampshire if Ed had brought him some of those johnnycakes Vito Spatafore found when he went into hiding there.

  12. GOTHAM: A Batman show without the Batman. Intriguing idea, but they've got so much going against them right now it seems silly to even attempt.

It's cheapening their biggest brand. Kind of like Agents of SHIELD, which was terrible and will never last.

I just want to know what happened to all of those dipping sauces in Germany? They really looked like they knew their chicken nuggets (in addition to mass meth distribution).

I keep saying aloud as I watch the show, "Is this it?" Is this the final showdown? Is this when Hank/Walt/Jesse/Saul dies? Is this when they get the smoking gun evidence? Aaaaaahhhhh! Then madness and gritting of teeth for another week. Genius.

  16. I'm conflicted. B.J. and the Bear or Who's the Boss as the Rock/McG's follow-up to The Fall Guy?

  17. Hey Castor! Thanks for the invite but I have to bow out. Didn't know it was a money league and my cash flow is f****d up out to the near future. Sorry and thanks again.

Wherever Kate Upton is doing the Dougie, that's the sport for me. I think that was cricket.

I'm just surprised you guys have got much interest at all on a screenwriters site. We're not normally known as huge sports fans.

  19. I need to know if anyone's seen a structural paradigm for a one hour TV drama? Like a Blake Snyder beat sheet but for TV. I can't find one, could use help. Thanks!
