I enjoyed watching Tyrant tonight, but what a blatant copy of The Godfather. Barry is Michael Corleone with a dash of season 1 Walter White. Jamal (modeled after Uday Hussein) will make a great rival to Barry.

Revised "MAYA" after excellent critique from paid Coverage at TB. Upped it to the Blcklst again: http://bit.ly/1lGvLWF

Watched the pilot for "The Strain" today. It's good, but I had hoped for better. It doesn't hit with the impact of Darabont's Walking Dead pilot. Del Toro directed and the casting and performances are a bit rough. Only the first ep, so I'm sure it will find its groove.

Congrats to Dominic and Matt on "The Controller"!!! http://www.tracking-board.com/the-controller-sales/

Just saw the best pilot I have ever seen. Wow. Wow. Lifetime achievement type work. Shame it'll never air. Amazing.

Has anyone had any experience with applying to a Sundance lab? I'm getting Franklin Leonard's referral to apply to the first Sundance Episodic Content lab and I'm wondering if anyone has any tips?

Here's the press release from March, and all of the major industry trades covered it. No official page on the sundance site as it's new: http://tinyurl.com/k9lnucf
It's invite only; I got in via the blacklist site, not even sure who evaluated my script but Franklin emailed to say I was a finalist.

Loved the Star Wars pic they released yesterday of the entire cast at Pinewood Studios. Was really good but surprised to see Attack the Block's John Boyega and Oscar Isaac among the cast. It is just so fantastic seeing the future of the series alongside the original cast.

Whenever I worry about writing, I read this and I remember it is a marathon and not a sprint: http://hollywoodjournal.com/personal-journeys/making-a-movie-is-easy-a-3‐step-process-that-worked-for-prisoners/20130917/

Unsure if I should be really excited about the Fargo FX series or somewhat wary of it. Great cast and pedigree, so hoping for the best. Big fan of the film.

I watched the first hour last night on screener. Billy Bob Thornton is awesome, Martin Freeman is okay (hard not to be listening for his accent to break), and the plot takes some serious TURNS. The show is good enough to be really exciting, and a very interesting idea to take an existing film and set a TV show within its world, without using the characters or story, just the themes. Huge potential, hope it keeps it up.

Are there any decent places online to get pilot coverage?

Congrats to all writers who made Top 25 of the Launch Pad TV contest - especially PARADISE CITY! Well done, Sean.

True Detective just makes everything else on television pale in comparison. Really.

No one will believe me, but I Frankenstein was awesome in Imax 3d. Also Stuart Beattie is really cool to talk to.

Last night's True Detective was my favorite so far.

THE GIRL AT THE END OF THE WORLD premièred last week at the Arena Cinema, LA. The rom-com was shot in both the US and Ireland and we made it on a very low budget.
