Awesome! Just append /rss to the end of the url, and it should work for most podcatchers.

  5. Those of you who have a writing partner, what methods do you typically use? For example, do you write together in the same room?

  6. Out of graduate class, so going to spend the next few weeks breaking down some episodic scripts for TV shows using a spreadsheet -- figure out scene lengths, how much plot one can pack in. Then, it's spec-writin' time!

  7. Any recommendations on a books or website that helps with the modern day blueprint of screenplays. I used to write comedies, but have transitioned to TV Dramas. However I have a drama Idea for a feature and would like to get reacquainted with screenplay structure as it looks today.

Best book on structure I've ever read is Into the Woods, by John Yorke. Bonus relevance for you is that he was a TV writer for some time.

  10. Do any of you writers use outlining software, or do you typically just stick with Word?

I use Evernote for the barest of skeleton outlines.

  12. Where do we stand as group on referencing actors in a script's character descriptions? (i.e. Think: Jennifer Lawrence, Beauty & The Beasts) Weigh in.

I think the best rule of thumb is as long as it doesn't distract from the narrative or tone, and keeps things moving.

Hey, to each his own. You can also glean a fair amount from her short book, "Do Story." Just figured I'd toss in my two cents.

It's sort of a holistic approach to film-making, and it's hard to summarize in 140 character comments online.

But essentially, what she does is introduce you to a structural model she uses in her consulting at studios, and then she analyzes films with the audience.

And, that would have the bonus effect of throwing audiences off-balance, because suddenly, the 2nd film isn't the sad one any more.
