  1. This is your quarterly reminder to back up all of your writing files! Cloud, jump drive, external HD, etc. Do it now!

  2. Current list of people in the reading group below. Anyone else interested?

  3. Hi everyone, I just wanted to say goodbye of sorts, perhaps not forever. In a few days, I won't be renewing my TB subscription. I want to say thanks again to all the terrific members here and the happy sharing. Perhaps in a few months, I'll join back in. My Kindle is going to be hungry, I know... If anyone wants my email address, drop me a message in the next few days.

  4. Any 2015 Hit List/ Black List scripts outside of the Top 10 really good and worth reading? Thanks in advance for suggestions.

Castle Drive was a treat. Effective and creepy.

  5. Happy Holidays to one and all. Just like to say this consistently stays a great resource. Thanks to all the contributors - Hit List, Black List, FYC scripts, old scripts, spec scripts, TV scripts. Just great. Thank you. Now make sure you read some of the scripts instead of just having a million of them. So much to learn. Never give up on your writing dreams. Never ever.

Was just about to post this. Rudin gets a lot of flak, but I was more inclined to agree with him on this end. I think in one of the emails he even mentions how much money they'll lose if they drop the project. Hilarious article nonetheless.

  7. Officially out of LA until a script sells. I'm off to get married!

  8. Bradley Cooper's CHEF re-titled to ADAM JONES... apparently JOHN SMITH was unavailable?

  9. Oh Fox, at least you could have aired Heiroglyph out of order before canceling it.

Same thing happened to The Vatican. Really unfortunate.

  10. I enjoyed watching Tyrant tonight, but what a blatant copy of The Godfather. Barry is Michael Corleone with a dash of season 1 Walter White. Jamal (modeled after Uday Hussein) will make a great rival to Barry.

Definitely an interesting comparison. I'm a massive fan of explosive characters -- thought they did a great job here with that aspect. For both Barry and Jamal. Not entirely sure about the pilot overall, but I might stick with it and see where it goes.

  11. Looking for some reads on a new feature. In the vein of The Place Beyond the Pines -- holding off on WIP for now. Always ready to return the favor if that's an incentive.

  16. Just want some advice here. I want to upload my script, but the ending isn't quite finished as I am re-writing at the mo. Would people be interested in reading the other 80 pages if I put if up or I would lI be wasting my time? I want to upload something before a prepare to send it for script coverage in the next week.

Most of has have done this (some multiple times), and I should tell you that it always ends badly. Once you've solidified yourself as that kind of writer and the script is bad -- trust me when I say it sticks.

If I grew up on a farm, and was retarded, Bruges might impress me but I didn't, so it doesn't.

  19. What's the best pilot you've read in recent memory? The Blacklist pilot is so dang good and I dug Extant.

Check out Elsewhere by Mikki Daughtry & Tobias Iaconis. Doesn't come up with a TB search but it's on the 2013 Black List. Seems to be exactly what you're looking for -- coupled with the fact that it's a great script. Very moving.
