  1. Watched CA: Civil War last night, and I have to say, it is the best film Marvel have made to date. Spider-man gets more screen time than I imagined. And as for Black Panther, is the best hero to enter the MCU in a long time. The costume, his fighting style make him so bad-ass. I cannot wait for his solo outing.

Saw it yesterday. People may be a little fed up of superhero movies (not me, not yet) but I still think there's a lot for writers to learn, from how to write ensemble to giving your minor characters their big moment.

What is California Civil War? Sounds interesting.

  2. Just seen that J.K Rowlings Fantastic Beasts and where to find them screenplay is going to be available in hardback

  3. I've just uploaded my script, Black Sambas, into the Work In Progress section. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

  4. I would just like an opinion on some, or a title, for the script I've been working on since I got my coverage back 3 months ago. The reader described it as Taken meets The Departed. It was called Black Sambas. Here we go: The Supremacy Project, Project Supremacy, Deeds of Deception, When Corruption was King, Bullets of the Dishonored, Once We Were Enemie to name a few. I will upload the 1st 50 pages tomaz. Would like people's thoughts. Must have done something right for the reader to X...

Departaken? =) What's your logline? Theme? To me a great title works on multiple levels so knowing more about the story would help. Otherwise they are just titles and IMO all (minus Black Sambas) feel bland / generic. You want a title that only fits your story. Congrats on the consider!

What fiction said. I quite like Black Sambas though. It's unique, and inspires an immediate mental image.

  5. Hopefully off to see Sicario today. Man, I've been really looking foward to it. Pretty sure, I won't be disappointed.

Great screenplay. It's definitely on the page so I'm sure it will be on the stage...

Thought it was great. They made some small, but important changes from the screenplay.

  6. I've seen casting sides on Showfax for a film called Viral from Casting guru Nancy Mayor. Would be for Dustin from here's Viral or is there another film by the same name coming out? Just curious.

  7. Just watched the trailer for Tusk. I thought it was pretty interesting. I've always been a big Kevin Smith fan Clerks, Dogma, etc. I've like the change of direction he's taken in recent years. I liked Red State. Melissa Leo and Parks where outstanding in that film. But he changed direction again, going to back to comedy elements, but with a twist. Judging by trailer and story Tusk sounds an unusual film. Plus its good to see Justin going back to his Jeepers Creepers days and doing...

It doesn't appeal to me in the least. But then I don't really like any of Smith's films.

I used to work at Blockbusters until 3 years ago. Admittedly, I never bothered to watch the Human Centipede. I did see the film on TV once. Bought the second but never bothered to watch it. One film I remember we had one copy of but were ordered very quickly to pull it from the shelf in no time, was the Serbian Film, one person we worked with watched it said don't watch, its just the sickest thing you'd ever see. So no one did. I watch the uncut trailer that was pretty screwed in itself.

    4. benskelly2

      benskelly2

I watched it online. It's so ridiculously over-the-top sick that it's easy to roll your eyes and shrug it off.

  8. Just want some advice here. I want to upload my script, but the ending isn't quite finished as I am re-writing at the mo. Would people be interested in reading the other 80 pages if I put if up or I would lI be wasting my time? I want to upload something before a prepare to send it for script coverage in the next week.

Definitely wait. But if you want to gauge your writing, upload your favorite scene and provide some context. For me a scene is like a bite of a sandwich; how many bites do you need to know whether or not you'll like it?

    4. Mr. Mo

      Mr. Mo

Most of has have done this (some multiple times), and I should tell you that it always ends badly. Once you've solidified yourself as that kind of writer and the script is bad -- trust me when I say it sticks.

  9. Loved the Star Wars pic they released yesterday of the entire cast at Pinewood Studios. Was really good but surprised to see Attack the Block's John Boyega and Oscar Isaac among the cast. It is just so fantastic seeing the future of the series alongside the original cast.

And Andy Serkis, who knew? But no Jesse Plemons, who was rumored. The new ingenue Daisy Ridley looks just like Natalie Portman in her headshot but in her reel more like Kiera Knightley. I'm excited for it, now, too, whereas before I was tepid.

  11. Off to see Captain America 2 today. Can't wait and judging by the reviews here in the Uk. It's one of the better marvel solo attempts. Can wait to see what the end credits reveal is, too.

Marvel's track record of consistent quality seems to be getting to a Pixar level now. It turns out cutting out the traditional film studio system and the stupid notes that go with it actually works.

    2. axalon

      axalon

Really? I thought Thor: The Dark World was completely forgettable as was Iron Man 3.

Everyone seems to love the new Captain movie though so maybe they're turning things around.

    3. benskelly2

      benskelly2

Well, some are going to be better than others, but the overall control of the quality and, indeed, the unfolding of their "universe", has been pretty masterful IMO and I'm not even a comic book guy - not at all.

  12. What did everyone think of the Sin City: A Dame to Kill for trailer? I wasn't sure about the music. The trailer itself seemed okay, but its early days, and I have have high expectations for it considering how much I loved the first one. Did Miller write the script himself or was RR involved? I know Monaghan did a draft. After the Spirit, I'd worry if It was just Miller writing.

Do you think Mickey Rourke was told not to drink water 24 hours prior to his voice over sessions?

It was okay. I guess i'm just not amped about this because it has been so long since the first one...but Josh Brolin in this? i'm curious

  13. uploaded a segment of my script. Would it serve me better if I uploaded to to the main forum. Just wondering if people might not check the WIP that much? Any feedback would greatly appreciated. Cheers.

People check the WIP quite often, but have found that they are far more likely to read/review/notes on a full script. Segments/pages get some reads, but less frequently.

Thanks for that Red. Good to know.

  14. Will be putting up a section of my script City of Aftermath(aka Bullets Of The Dishonoured) to get some reaction and feedback.

  15. Looks like Jurassic World is beginning to get underway as I noticed some casting sides up from Jonn Papsidera(The one who did casting for most Chris Nolan films, including DKR) for a character called Hamada.

Hiroyuki Sanada should get on that.

  16. Finally decided to renew my membership and it feels nice to be back. Just noticed my last post was in Feb. Quick question has the Full Avengers script ever surfaced or the Skyfall one? I've got Art of the Avengers which has several pages of the script and the book Bond on-set - filming Skyfall which also has about 10 pages of the shooting script. Love how the train scene and the Skyscraper fight scene was written.

Skyfall never surfaced. I wanted it too.

  17. Just watched the teaser super bowl trailer for Iron Man 3. Most of the footage has been seen before. But noticed in the split-second of the Mandarin's attack on Stark's home, is shown from another angle and Rebecca Hall's character is also there, standing just behind Stark and Peppa, running away as they are propelled through the air. She wasn't even glimpsed in that scene in the original trailer.

How can you even tell that's her?

  18. Well, that was misleading. On the main menu for Xbox live it has a picture of Taylor Kitsch and says Savages. Though it might be an early pre-release which Xbox has done for Resident Evil 5, Looper and Amazing Spider-man as Savages isn't out of DVD/Blu-ray till feb in the UK, but no, click the pic and it comes up with the Hoffman and Linney film from 2008.

Never seen as it just didn't appeal to me. But I wanted to see the Oliver Stone's Savages and not the other one. That's the only real issue.Just disappointed I cant see it for, like, another month.

  19. Just something crazy that I never would've seen coming. A guy who i've got on my facebook, who i went to school with, and ten years ago went to a Limp Bizkit gig with, is a now director, special effects guy and co-founder of The Brewery Visual effects company. And is currently working on Welcome To The Punch, and has work on A Mighty Heart and The Killer Inside Me as well as couple of other well known smaller films. He also an uncredited mention for working on Slumdog Millionaire. Gue...

To answer both. No, I haven't talked to him in a long time. I just a pic on facebook, and was like,oh my god, that's Neil Marshall sitting at that table with him and others.Yep, I went to see Limp Bizkit in London as like most of my mates back, was a big fan. I just generally love my music.

  22. In the Iron Man 3 trailer, is that possibly an appearance from the HULK? Hogan is lying on the floor with an Arc reactor attached to his chest, but when he looks up a massive hands seems grip the destroyed confines and he looks suitably scared. Also, someone is walking through the same room in a previous clip with badly torn trousers? Just a thought.

  23. I loved Skyfall, it is without doubt up there with my fav films of the year. It is to me, the best Craig one yet. loved Royale, but did get a tiny bit bored at times. love Goldeneye, but Skyfall's better. Love the intro and Adele's song is a fantastic remenisant of old Bond . Bardem's Silva is the best baddie of the last 20 yrs and his nod to Jaws is superb(maybe since Christopher Lee in MWTGG). The films looks stunning. Heres hoping, just like Bond, Mendes will be back
