Received a "consider" on another project from TB Coverage. Time to start rewriting!

has anyone recived their confirmation of entry for the launchpad pilot comp? Haven't received mine yet. A bit worried.

A few episodes into Sense8 and compelled to watch more, though I can't explain why. Anyone else hooked? Payoff(s) worth the investment?

Snuck in my pilot just before the launch pad deadline.

Hey guys. Got a bunch of A-list agents waiting for the english version of my script before a fortnight. Any advice on whom would be best to fast track typos corrections of 110 pages in about two days?
-
I'm freaking out. I know this happens all the time, but I am about 1 or 2 months away from finishing a script that has the EXACT SAME CONCEPT as another project that was announced in the trades. I am very proud of this script and feel it is the best thing I have written. But I can already hear the rebuttals, and I don't want to waste my time working on something that seems to be dead out of the gate. What would you guys do?

Thank you to whoever recommended Bloodline!

Hard nosed female protagonists that you like. Go.

We got a "Consider" on our TB Coverage for the first draft of our psychological thriller. Great notes to apply to the rewrite.

So Blacklist has been running their "Featured Scripts" for a good many months now. Can anyone shed any light on any progress with any of these scripts be it development of the script or the launch of the writers career in another aspect?

Is Neil Blomkamp the new Richard Kelly?

Hey guys, that Sony hack was a pretty dark day for the industry, and I think it's irresponsible to bring to light anything damaging to those affected. Also, most of those items that were deleted already existed (as they were not actually from any hack of any kind, but were already part of the community.

Does Safety Not Guaranteed receive the same level of interest if it wasn't loosely inspired by a real classified ad? Just curious...

That is curious. I remember when it was being buzzed about around town, a lot of that buzz was in fact built on the ad being something real. Of course, the execution of the script far outweighs the add, or buzz over it, but I'm positive the ad perked ears, the pitch perked reads, and the script perked buyers.

I'm curious how an unrepped writer got his stuff into producers and studios... any know more?

How did everyone do in their Oscar pools?

Next question for writers: have you ever received payment for net points on the back end of a deal? I'd be stunned if anyone has, but asking anyway.

Working for one of the biggest management companies in town, I can tell you "backend" usually only tends to make it to the overwhelmingly established guys. I mean, Peter Jackson had to sue to get his backend on the Lord of the Rings films because the studio was still claiming losses on their billion dollar franchise. So, I can say, when it comes to backend negotiations it is usually done knowing they likelihood of receiving anything is next to nothing.

Will the spec market ever be like the golden age of the 90s again? You used to see a sale every week, where big sales were common place. More projects were in development and a wider variety of projects, non-IP....
-
pilots vary, but lower than features. spec pilots go for anything from $100-$200k (though we just sold one for $400k from a newcomer - so these are average more than anything), options from $15-30k. But all of these numbers can dramatically change when there is packaging involved, etc.
Because there are so fewer output options for spec pilots, there is less money to spend in development, and at this point every network/cable outlet has already overbought... they...

I doubt we'll ever see it like it was in the 90s because of the massive uprise of IP, remakes, sequels, etc. But, it's not entirely gone by the way side. Over 400 went out last in 2013, over 300 in 2014, and almost 50% are set up (sale or option) each year. For many those are launching points into the next phase of careers for writers (assignments, OWAs, etc.). Heck, I know the TB Launch Pad competition has helped set up something in the vicinity of 20 specs in the past 2 years, and w...
